Hope Ring: A Symbol of Resilience and Rebirth

Embracing the Concept of Hope in Persian Culture

Inspired by a Persian fable and rooted in the belief of rebirth, the Hope Ring, designed by Leily Mehrabi and Sahar Mohammadi, is a testament to the impermanence of life's challenges and the enduring power of hope.

Derived from a fable by Attar of Nishapour, a renowned Persian poet and mystic, the Hope Ring carries the inscription "This too shall pass." This powerful phrase serves as a reminder that all material conditions, whether good or bad, are ephemeral. The concept behind this artwork is to instill hope in the wearer during times of sadness and to remind them that favorable circumstances are also fleeting.

The design of the Hope Ring draws inspiration from nature, specifically the transformation of leafless branches in winter into vibrant seedlings in spring. This natural phenomenon mirrors the temporality of human conditions in life. While changes are constant in the universe, it is the good and bad situations that will ultimately pass.

What sets the Hope Ring apart is its deep connection to Persian culture. By incorporating the concept of hope, the designers have created a piece of jewelry that carries a special stone, symbolizing the inherent belief in the power of hope and rebirth.

The production process of the Hope Ring is a labor of love, with each piece being meticulously handcrafted. Techniques such as rolling work, sawing, welding, soldering, polishing, stone setting, and gold plating are employed to bring this exquisite design to life.

Technical specifications of the Hope Ring include a base metal of gold and a ring top plate measuring 12mm x 23mm x 4mm. The attention to detail and craftsmanship are evident in every aspect of this design.

Worn as an everyday piece of jewelry, the Hope Ring serves as a powerful symbol of hope and rebirth. It conveys a message of resilience and optimism, reminding the wearer that even in the face of adversity, there is always the potential for renewal.

The Hope Ring project began in December 2016 in Tehran and was completed in February 2017. Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted on Persian poems to capture the essence of hope, life, and happiness. The historical significance of the ring, with its symbolism of seasonal changes and the concepts of death and rebirth, presented creative and technical challenges that were skillfully overcome.

The Hope Ring has received recognition for its exceptional design, winning the Bronze A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category in 2018. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate ingenuity, creativity, and a commitment to improving the quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.

The Hope Ring, with its profound meaning and exquisite craftsmanship, stands as a testament to the enduring power of hope and the beauty of embracing life's ever-changing nature.
